Simon Latham appointed permanent Managing Director of City Bridge Foundation
Simon, who has been serving as Acting Managing Director for the past two years, having previously been Chief Operating Officer at City Bridge Foundation, will continue to oversee City Bridge Foundation’s work as the owner and manager of Tower, London, Southwark, Millennium and Blackfriars bridges, alongside its role as London’s biggest independent charity funder. Since 1995, the Foundation has awarded more than £840 million to charitable organisations across Greater London.
The appointment comes as City Bridge Foundation continues to strengthen its role in bridging London and connecting communities – maintaining essential transport infrastructure at no cost to the taxpayer while helping charities create fairer, more equitable opportunities for Londoners.
The City of London Corporation is the sole trustee of City Bridge Foundation.
Policy Chairman at the City of London Corporation, Chris Hayward, said:
“Warm congratulations to Simon on his appointment. He has shown strong leadership over the past two years as Acting Managing Director, and I am pleased to see him take on the role permanently.
“As the trustee of City Bridge Foundation, we look forward to continuing to work closely with Simon as the Foundation connects communities, cares for London’s iconic bridges, and supports charities across the capital.”
Paul Martinelli, Chair of the City Bridge Foundation Board, said:
“Over the past two years as Acting Managing Director, Simon has provided thoughtful, collaborative leadership and has helped steer the organisation with confidence through a period of continued growth and ambition.
“Simon has a clear understanding of what makes City Bridge Foundation unique: our responsibility to care for five of London’s iconic bridges while investing in organisations working to tackle inequality across the capital. The Board is confident he is the right person to lead the Foundation into its next chapter, building on our proud history while ensuring we continue to make a lasting difference for London and Londoners.”
Simon Latham, Managing Director of City Bridge Foundation, said:
“It is an enormous privilege to be appointed Managing Director of City Bridge Foundation. Having had the privilege of serving as Acting Managing Director for the past two years, and before that as Chief Operating Officer, I have seen first-hand the dedication of our people and the unique impact this organisation has across London.
“Few organisations have such a distinctive purpose or such a remarkable history of serving the capital. Our bridges are a vital part of London’s infrastructure, connecting people and supporting the city’s success every day. At the same time, our charitable funding helps organisations working across London to build stronger, fairer communities and improve the lives of thousands of people.
“I look forward to continuing to work with our talented colleagues, our Board, our trustee the City of London Corporation, and our many partners as we build on our strong foundations. Together, we will continue to bridge London, connect communities and invest in a better future for the capital.”
