The Investment Committee

The Investment Committee is a Committee of the City Bridge Foundation Board, and a sub-committee of the Court of Common Council. 

The Investment Committee is comprised of four elected members of the Board, and three external co-opted Members.

The Investment Committee is responsible for the charity’s investment functions, including strategic oversight and monitoring of the performance of the charity’s investment portfolio against the Investment Strategy Statement.

The Investment Committee was set up in May 2023 and first met in June 2023.

Investment Committee Members

Henry graduated in Law from Christ’s College Cambridge. He served as an insurance broker in the London market for 15 years dealing with clients in the UK, Ireland, France and the USA before switching to underwriting in 1995.

Since 2002 he has specialised in managing insurance businesses in run off in London, Sweden and Singapore as well as resolving litigated insurance liabilities across all classes and numerous jurisdictions across the world particularly USA. He also serves as non-executive chairman of a separate Lloyds managing agency.

Henry is a member of various City of London Corporation committees including serving as chairman of the Finance Committee.

Simon is the CEO and Managing Partner of Findlay Park, an independent asset manager focused on investing in North American companies. Previous roles include Chief Investment Officer and Head of Private Wealth at the global multi-asset investment firm Newton. 

Simon has spent many years researching and investing in global banks and insurance companies, with a particular interest in the evolution of regulation and how it impacts financial market participants. 

His non-executive appointments include acting as a trustee of the Courtauld Gallery’s art collection. Simon was elected to the City of London Corporation in 2023.

Simon is an investment fund and AIM company director based in the City of London and has worked in the Square Mile for over twenty years.

A Cambridge University graduate, he became an elected member of the City of London Corporation in 2000 representing the Ward of Bishopsgate, and has served on a number of key local authority committees, primarily involved with policy, finance and investment.

Alison is a consultant at DLA Piper UK LLP following her City career as a senior partner specialising in real estate.

She has worked on investment and development transactions with specialisations in insolvency and waste management, working with many international businesses entering the UK market.

An elected Alderman of the City of London Corporation who sits on various committees, she is also a governor of the Museum of London and a trustee of the Samuel Wilson Loans Trust.

Profile to follow

Michael serves as a non-executive director at a number of property investment companies, and is chair of IDS – a small housing association based in Hackney.

He has previously enjoyed a long career as a chartered surveyor, culminating in a position as chairman of property advisors CBRE.

Michael says: As a born and bred Londoner who has spent much of my career in and around the Square Mile, I am always interested in investment decisions and strategy, but find the work of City Bridge Foundation particularly fascinating.

The foundation has an incredible potrfolio and the key now is to ensure that investments are aligned with the current needs and values of the charity.”

Hannah is chief investment officer, UK direct real estate, for CBRE Investment Management, having worked for the company since 2006 in various roles focusing on the UK and Europe.

A mother-of-three, she is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in economics and politics from the University of Bristol and a Master of Art degree in real estate investment and finance from Reading University.

Hannah says: Being on the City Bridge Foundation investment committee provides a really valuable opportunity to gain exposure to a different perspective and a diversity of thought, as well as giving me a chance to use my skills to benefit the charity.”
